Two months ago, we got married.
Three and a half months ago, we started making our invites.
Having left no budget (whoops!) for invites,
I’d decided we would make them ourselves.
I had a rough idea that I could use
my rolling stamp in some way…
(Bought on a total whim, it came in rather handy!)
Then I came across some coloured library cards…
And thought they could tell the ‘story’ of our day…
As we’ve been together a rather long time,
I thought it would funny to stamp them ‘overdue’.
Our overdue stamp… found for me by the lovely My Spare Thoughts.
Well, we used that to make our envelopes.
(It’s actually just wrapping paper but looks the real deal.)
We made the template first and
then 130 envelopes… phew.
Then we got stamping…
(I had inky fingers for a whole week!)And there may have been ‘a bit’
of handwriting too to fill them out.
Then the easy bit… envelope stuffing!
And hopefully lots of ‘awwws’ when everyone got them.
And maybe even a little applause! Then all we had to do was wait for the RSVPs…
Oh yes and organise a wedding!
But more of that once I have the pics.
Hope you like them.

P.S. To anyone thinking of doing their own diy invites,
make a decent playlist to listen to while crafting…
and always check that you’ve spelt a word right
before stamping it over several invites!
I’m studying information science (in other words to be a librarian, but a cool one obvs! hahaha) and I gotta say i absolutely the invites!! :D:D:D and congrats (bit late I know! but I’m new on here :P) on getting married!!

I love these, so clever. I bet your guests loved receiving these!
P.s I’m married to a Neil too 🙂
What a great idea, I love the rolling stamp letters and map envelopes. We made our invitations from scratch too, but we used printed Japanese paper, so lots of trimming and spray glue was involved. I’m not sure I’d do it again:)
These are great! I love the library/map combo, it works really well.
We made mock-library cards for our place settings and also used an overdue stamp on some as our dig at ourselves for taking so long to make it down the aisle!
I love how simple they are, they look fantastic!!
A labour of love. So very worth it!
Brilliant! These are fabulous.
I handwrote all of ours and did a little watercolour.
Never.
Again.
Those envelopes are so great – colorful and so unique.
Amazing! So inventive and super personal – i love them!
Lovely idea – I’m getting a stamp made for our invites at the moment but wont need to hand stamp. It looks like fun though. Wonderful idea.
Amazing! Love them! CAN’T WAIT FOR YOUR PICTURES!!!!!!!!!! 😀
I love those- the colours are lovely and very happy-making!
Am slightly embarrassed that I live in Bo’ness and had never heard of Carriden House until I read this post, though…
Brilliant. And just seen the sneak peak wedding picks on Lillian and Leonard – SO excited!
I am genuinely going to feel like a massive copy cat when I have my wedding because I wanted those library cards as place names! haha. Such a beautiful idea and so simple as invitations. The roller stamp is amazing too 🙂 x
They’re gorgeous!
Great idea! Love.

Mine is now my bookmark, seems appropriate!
Love these – so pretty! x
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!
I think I need one of those stamps to add to my collection and please please tell me where you found the map paper, I think I need it for a new project in the works!
Love the overdue stamp!
Wow these are amazing, such a cool idea, although you must have endless patience to make all them!:)
so so cute!
I feel very smug that I actually recieved one of these beauties – and they were perfect, so very you!
I genuinely adore this and find you a wee bit inspirational! xx
Hey, you got married on my birthday! It’s also my fella’s birthday, and Paul McCartney’s. It is obviously a most auspicious date! I made Christmas cards for the first time last year, and even though it took for-freakin’-ever, the recipients all commented on how nice they were…I have absolutely no doubt that your wedding guests felt the same 🙂
Thanks everyone for your super lovely comments… glad you all like them 🙂
@Kirsteen – Neils are the best 😉
@Maggie & @Catherine – yeah, not sure we would do it again! 😉
@Bonnie – I don’t think it’s well-known, I only knew about it because someone told me about it.
@Gaynor – the map paper is actually wrapping paper from Paper Tiger, cost a couple of quid I think.
@threesmallapples – wow, your comment made me blush! thank you!
@Eleni Drinks Tea – I didn’t know that about Macca’s birthday… hope you had a good day too? I think most of our guests kept their invites so I’m taking that as a sign they liked them 😉
