Last weekend, it was my friend’s hen do.
Such good, good fun and supremely stylish too
so I thought I’d share some of my iphone snaps.
We stayed at Balbegno Castle
which is owned by super cool shop Pedlars.
Such a gorgeous place but it was like staying in a catalogue!
This is my lovely little bedroom…
… and the oh so amazing dining room!
We did some of the usual things… truths, quizzes on the Friday…
And then on Saturday we went to a screenprinting class at DCA.
It’s something I’ve always fancied trying but never had the excuse to.
They asked us for a photo we’d like to Warhol so I brought the pic
of me and the other half on the day we got engaged.
And it started off like this…
Then I had to choose colours… oh so many colours!
And then it was time to start screenprinting…
True to form, mine were colourful and slightly messy!
Then it was back to the castle for a murder mystery party,
which was just brilliant. The costumes, the accents, the laughter.
But I’ll spare us all the pics of me in costume and
show you some of the things I now want from Pedlars

Such a great weekend that I think my friend
should get married more often!

I’ve been to a few lovely hen dos, but I think my favourite was two hours of trampolining for my cousin’s – SO much fun (and surprisingly hard work!).

My friend’s hen is in June & we’re going to get cocktails while having vintage hair/makeup done then out on the town (thankfully not a glittery pink cowboy hat in sight!)
Love the gravity print, and your own amazing screenprint! And that sounds like just about the classiest (and most fun, to my mind) hen party I’ve ever heard of — screenprinting and murder mystery fun.
Your screenprints are dead good! I want to live in the castle please. Isn’t the DCA a cool place? I have done a couple of screenprints there when I was at Uni.
Ok THANK YOU! I got engaged last year and am fine with thinking about all other aspects of the wedding but a hen party is the one thing I just couldn’t get my head around. Everything just sounded so UGH. But this on the other hand is brilliant! It’s exactly what I’d want to do. Ahh, I can relax now knowing there is something out there for me when I eventually get married!

I’m glad Weddingsday is back! Will definitely be having a nosey in Pedlars when I’m next back at mum and dad’s who stay in that neck of the woods! x
This hen do looks lovely! The screen printing is certainly a refreshing change to the usual spa-shopping-drinking-dancing formula of hen weekends. I’m going to a hen weekend in Glasgow soon, but I can already tell it won’t be as cool as this one!

Wow, I love it all! Sounds like so much fun, and love the screen printing idea, so nice to mix things up from the usual L-plates + stripper! Love the stags heads on the walls too.
This looks ace! For my hen do, the fantastic ladies at Vintage Patisserie created a bespoke afternoon tea experience complete with personalised cakes (with pics of me), personalised bunting, brilliant 1940s music, fabulous cocktails (gin and earl grey, and jasmine tea with prosecco), and best of all – we all got a 1940s makeover! Oh wow, that place looks seriously amazing!! I’m currently organising a hen party for my best friend. It’s so difficult! She also wants a murder mystery party, but all the places we’ve found don’t have them on the dates we want or can’t accommodate large groups, so I’m thinking about going down the route of hiring a cottage (sadly I don’t think budget will stretch to that amazing house), doing some adventure activities, and getting a murder mystery kit to play in the cottage over lots and lots of alcohol. Did you have a kit or did you hire actors, etc? i’ve seen a few companies that do it, but don’t know if it’s better than just getting a kit? x
For the murder mystery, we just had the kit – the cd and the scripts. I thought the kit was probably better as it meant we could just make bits up and if someone got the acting bug then it didn’t really matter… plus budget friendly too!
Marvellous screen printing! I’d love to have a go at that!! Love the venue – wish I’d thought of something like that for my hen night 🙂

Sounds fab; I didnt know Pedlars had a castle!
We went to Kirkhill Mansion for my hen do which was fab; out of the city for a lazy day on the sat but close enough to go out in town on the Friday night too!
I was just at a hen night at the weekend on the Cruz boat at the shore.
Ive got another 2 hen nights to plan for next summer so will need to get thinking!

Been following your blog for a while.. it’s fab! I’m getting married in June too. Just come back off my own hen do. My brilliant friend sorted life drawing out for us in York. Imagine our surprise when the (gorgeous) model appeared in the pub later with his girlfriend. He looked slightly worried when we all waved to him! Good luck with your wedding!
Ah! I am going to that class at the DCA at the end of June – glad to have an idea of what I’ll be getting up to!
Thanks for sharing photos of your home – I think mine looks remarkably similar but is probably in the pre 2.5 years DIY – I’ve painted the walls and the book recess but I have a hideous 1950s fireplace and haven’t yet managed to paint the wood round the windows……or hang a light fitting – and I’ve been living here for 8 months! But i have been rewired, got a kitchen semi-fitted……
